The thing I love about this readathon is that jumping into the hashtag on Twitter, means that you find people who’ve been reading for 2 hours or 12 hours or 15 hours, just depending on their lives and their schedules. It’s never – in its history – been anything but laid back. Just a bunch of people getting together to read a bunch of books over a weekend.
So, with that in mind, thanks to the 190 191 192 of you who have signed up so far. Nothing makes #24in48 better than a whole lot of people doing it together. Good food during the ‘thon takes a close 2nd though. We’re officially 12 hours in, and pretty soon I’m going to take a break to make a Grilled Margherita Sandwich (I’m adding prosciutto to my version) which I’m super excited about.
Leave a comment with the meal or snack you’re most excited about the comments, and at midnight (12 hours from now) I’ll choose a winner, who will receive a prize pack of these books:
Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy by Karen Abbott
Island of a Thousand Mirrors by Nayomi Munaweera
Under the Wide and Starry Sky by Nancy Horan
The Last Kind Words Saloon by Larry McMurtry
The Wonder of All Things by Jason Mott
Let me have it. What are you most excited to eat this weekend?
I’m going to the store soon to pick up a bag of chocolate covered, gluten free pretzels! They’re my favorite indulgence – salty, sweet, and perfect for a day of reading.

I wish I could make chocolate chip cookies but I don’t have the chocolate chips. 😦
I’m thinking just a piece of pizza, a Coke, and watermelon. Watermelon is the best of all foods!

I have chicken salad and beautiful sweet cherries lined up for lunch, which feels summery and picnic-like, and has the advantage of being easy to eat while I read. 🙂

I’m on a bit of a health kick this week so headed out early to the market to pick up some spring greens for a big salad. But I’ve already had that…
I figure later this evening I’ll definitely need a pick me up so there’s a tub of peanut butter Ben and Jerry’s with my name on it for then.
Loving this readathon, feeling so productive! Happy reading everyone! X

Bout to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich…with a tall glass of milk. That’s really the best, in my opinion.

I had a delicious omlette for lunch today, then some more reading. I am excited tonight about having Nachoes. I am more excited about it because I am hoping that Hubby will make them, while I continue reading Tremor by Ryan Mark.
Enjoy your snacks and books. Your sandwich sounds delicious.

I put steak in fajita marinade this morning. My husband will grill that up soon and then maybe I’ll convince him to make a run to Smart & Final for cookies. 🙂

We’re having margherita pizzas on the bbq for dinner – it’s my fav summer meal. Fresh buffalo mozzarella, large leaf basil from our garden, delicious tomatoes (too early for our own tomatoes right now.) Doing it on the bbq on pizza stones makes it almost as good as proper wood fired pizza!
But I’m also seriously considering popping the audiobook back on and walking over to Bulk Barn to get some gummy bears.

After reading the comments there are so many foods I want to be munching on right now! I’ve had chips and salsa today, which is one of my favorite snacks. I see some candy in my future though, in the form of sour gummy worms. 🙂

Being the unhealthy monster I am, I need Hot Cheetos, Brisk because I love artificial juice -_- I know shame on me, and probably ramen. I really love ramen, and even if I wasn’t a broke college student I would eat ramen all the time. But if I want to live beyond my 20s, I’ll have to change my eating habits XD
