Hour 24 Check-In – Halfway Mark!

If you’re on the East Coast (though many of you aren’t), it is midnight and the halfway point! Hooray! Exciting! WHEEE!!! Are you getting sleepy yet?

Keep going, you can do it! Maybe a prize announcement will help keep you awake? The winner (randomly chosen) is…

Sarah!!

(Of Veggie Bolognese Fame. You’ll get an email from me later today when I’m awake and have had coffee.)

Know what’s even better? ANOTHER PRIZE PACK! This time a set of mystery and thriller galleys of these titles:

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
And Sometimes I Wonder About You by Walter Mosley
The Winter Family by Clifford Jackman
Descent by Tim Johnson
Written in the Blood by Stephen Lloyd Jones

So to win this pack, leave a comment, tell me how many books you’ve read so far and then tell me what’s the most recent book you’ve read that’s made you want to put it in the freezer. I wish I had a pick to add to this but I’m a complete wimp about scary books. But give me yours and I’ll draw a winner in 12 hours at noon today.

You guys are doing great, it’s been so wonderful to talk to everyone on Twitter and Instagram. Keep going! Yew kan dew eet!

Okay, just kidding. You can sleep. See you guys at 6am for another update.

I love that episode!!! Today I finished two books and read about half of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As for my freezer book, I’ll have to go with IT by Stephen King. It’s the only one that has truly freaked me out. The Shining is child’s play in comparison!

I finished one I had started before 24in48 started. Read another. Now I’m more than half way on my third. I’m hoping to finish this one before I go to bed in an hour or so.
To be completely honest, I haven’t read much mystery and thriller books. But I’m planning on reading more.
I wanted to put the last book in The Titanic series by Gordon Korman because my favorite character….lets just say things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to. :,(

  3. Just finished one (Everything Leads to You) unfortunately but am half way through another (The Steerswoman)!
As for the question… I would love to freezer PenPal. That was the only book to ever give me nightmares.

I’ve finished 1 and am a fourth of the way through a 650 page book. I’ve also read a few small short stories when I needed a break.

As for the freezer, the book I’d put in there would be The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. I had a hard time reading this book back in high school, it still haunts me today.

  6. I’ve read two books and two single issue comic books so far!! I’m very pleased. Lately I’ve been hunting for a scary book to no avail, so I guess my freezer book is still House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski! Looking forward to another day of readathoning yaaaaay!!!

  7. I’m currently onto my third book of the readathon; Paper Towns. I’d say that the last book I read that made me want to put it in the freezer would have to be The Girlfriend. I can’t remember who wrote it at the moment, but when i did read it, it definitely scared me enough to want to put it in the freezer!

  8. I’m part way into book 3 and heading off to bed for a bit. As for freezer books, I have to admit I don’t generally read scary novels. I’ve read some Stephen King but it’s been a really long time.

  10. I’ve read from seven different books but not finished any as I’m only reading short stories from anthologies and collections – I’ve read thirteen so far. My freezer book would probably be The Weird: A Compendium of Stange and Datk Stories. Cheers!

  11. I’ve read/finished 5 books. Whoop whoop! And earlier this week I finished Sarah Lotz’s deliciously creepy DAY FOUR, a follow up to THE THREE, and it made my skin all goosebumpy and I had to keep the door to my walk-in closet closed. So good.

I’ve read 3 books and finished another, and making progress through 2666 (great, but long!). My recent freezer book is IN THE WOODS. I couldn’t be alone as I was reading it!!
