We’re getting close to the halfway point, and hopefully by now you’ve found your rhythm, you know how much you’ve read and how much you still have left to read if you’re shooting for a full 24 hours of reading. If you’re planning on taking advantage of the quiet (if it’s late for you too), what are your late night evening rituals during the summer? Winter is easy: cozy blanket, slippers, warm drink. But summer evening rituals are tougher. Do you sit outside and listen to the crickets if you’re in the country? Do you find a porch to hang out on? How about a walk around the neighborhood with an audiobook to enjoy the late summer sunset?
Maybe some prizes will be a good way to keep you up for a little longer?

And don’t forget you have another three hours to enter both the Hour 18 Diverse Books challenge and the Hour Zero Intro Survey challenge.
I’ll walk the dogs in the summer with an audio book. There are side streets and a park like area nearby owned by the largest Catholic Church in Atlanta that provide enough quiet for the audio books. And shade from the Atlanta heat for me and the dogs!

Summer for me means more time to read in the evenings-no after school activity pickups, late dinners to prep, more daylight hours after work..I love it. I like to relax with a glass of something cold in one of my usual favorite indoor reading spots (I am a mosquito magnet, no matter what I do) and just enjoy the extra time with my books.

I curl up with my little black kitten on the sofa with a good book and a mug of hot tea. I can’t imagine anything better 🙂

Year round I enjoy curling up on my bed with a good book, my comforter tossed over my legs, and a soft cat in my lap. My shelf right next to me is the perfect place to keep my cup of coffee. Sometimes if it’s nice I’ll sit on the balcony and read for a bit, but I don’t actually have a comfortable chair out there so I don’t usually sit for long.

Summer nights after a hot day (today was in the 90s), I look forward the sundown when the temp drops and I can turn off the AC and open up the windows. I love a fresh breeze floating in through my slider while I’m stretched out on the couch with a good book. Also, a bowl of ice cream doesn’t hurt.

Doesn’t matter what time of year it is for me, every night I enjoy jumping into bed and taking up all the space for myself until my fiancé comes to bed an hour later! A simple, yet satisfying ritual 🙂

It’s been so hot and humid here this weekend that the only thing to do is sit in front of the air conditioner with a huge glass of ice water or iced tea and chill out in some comfy shorts and a tank top. I’ve got some good music going when I’m not listening to audiobooks, though. It’s pretty chill.

I prefer to snuggle down in bed with a fuzzy blanket. In the summer that means pulling out an extra fan…but I never feel more comfy than when I’m in what I call my princess bed, surrounded by pillows. If it’s raining outside, even better!
