Hour 42: Literary Dinner Party

One of the very best parts of readathon is the food (trust me on this). I am all about planning my snacks and meals in advance, and the name of the game is, ALL THE CARBS. I try to eat healthy, I promise, but then again,  mac & cheese exists in the world. It’s only a problem if you say it’s a problem, right?

I say, combat the sneaking suspicion that food and books are not as closely related as you might think by dreaming up your perfect dinner party. Who would you most like to attend a bookish dinner party with? Authors (living or dead), fictional characters, anything goes. That’s your next challenge: which five bookish people (or animals, I’m not picky) would be around your perfect literary dinner table?

  10. From literary celebrities, I would say – Harry Potter, Jules Verne, Jack London, Neal Shusterman, Stephen King, Mark Twain, J.K. Rowling, George Orwell, C.S. Lewis, and Kurt Vonnegut.
    From personal friends I would say – Francisco Javier Campos, Kim Tracy Miller, Kim Kimberly Miller, Natalie Dorfeld, Mocte Zuma to start with but Harry Potter had a HUGE table, right? Sooooo I would also say….Adi Alsaid, Jack Little, Danielle Levredge, Daniel Daniel Hammer Hamilton, Debbie Ramon, Sam Kim, Kristen Ritter, Kristen Dixie, Camila de la Parra, Vio Letra, and that would just be a start!

  32. First I would pick the Cheshire cat, because he is my spirit animal. Then I’d ask Lyra from THE GOLDEN COMPASS and Hermione Granger to have a seat at the table so Lyra could delightfully annoy the crap out of Hermione. Because of course. Next, then Roxane Gay to chat about being a bad feminist while drinking tea from pot with pink flowers on it. Last, but not least, Neil Gaiman, because of all the people out there, I suspect he would feel totally at home next to the Cheshire cat and a group of women talking about feminism, giant polar bears, and SPEW.

    After spending months reading about them in the #hpchapteraday challenge, I think I’d want my literary dinner to be in the Burrow at the Weasley house. Then I’d could dine surrounded by Molly and her good cooking, Fred, George, Mr Weasley, and Ron. Ginny could come too if we were allowed an extra person. And let’s face it, it’s the Weasley house, there’s ALWAYS and extra person. 😉
