I read 4 books, for a total of 1,599 pages.
I read around 27 hours, but stopped keeping track at 24 so I could nap and then read without worrying about a timer.
I think having another readathon start during this readathon (BiAnnual Bibliothon), as well as one starting the next day (Booktube-a-thon) helped me have a prepared stack of books I was looking forward to.
I don’t think this readathon can approve. It’s got a goal, but is so mellow that I really enjoy it.
I will DEFINITELY participate in future readathons.

1. I read 3 books and 1.5 audiobooks
2. I clocked in 16.5 hours
3. Loved the check-ins every three hours. They weren’t as time consuming as last time so we could do them and not lose too much time from our reading. And they were very entertaining!

1) I read 1 and half book which is around 900 pages.
2) It clocked 14 hrs
3) Regular check-ins helped to know that there are people who are reading along with me at different locations and some were doing just like me!

1. I finished one book and quite a few hours of my audiobook, didn’t track any pages though.

3. I liked that the social media updates and blog updates were a little spaced out, it helped me to not feel like I was missing out on a lot of things when I couldn’t check in. It took some pressure off!

5. Definitely! Maybe next time I’ll have the weekend off and get to the 24 hours.

1. I finished three books and read parts of another, and listened to an audiobook for about 2 hours.
2. I clocked in at 13.3 hours total.
3. I loved that there were checkins only every 3 hours – it felt less like I had to take breaks every hour.
4. I tried to track what I read on a spreadsheet (like I do for the Dewey readathon), but that meant that I’d lose a fair amount of time at the start of every hour, and it was too easy to get distracted with real-life stuff. Next time, I’d just keep a pad of paper next to me and keep notes on my progress every hour, and take breaks only at the 3 hour intervals.
5. I’ll definitely be there in January!

How many hours did you read? I finally made it the full 24 hours. Audiobooks helped a lot.
What do you think worked well in this readathon? I love challenges. They provide a fun and much-needed break. And I like looking at everyone’s responses on Instagram and Twitter.
What do you think could be done to improve the readathon for next time? Hmm…I love this readathon and think it’s organized very well. I guess I would have preferred that my start time not be at midnight ET, but that is technically when the day starts, so it makes sense. 🙂

1. I finished one book started before the readathon, read full 3 books and a bit of the fifth one, alltogether 1050 pages.
2. I read for 24 hours and about 10 minutes.
3. I really liked updates every 3 hours and fun challenges 🙂
4. I wouldn’t change anything. I joined for the first time and everything was clear and easily explained for me.
5. Sure, if I have a free weekend again. It was a lot of fun, thank you for organising everything so well! 🙂

The check-ins and challenges were about the right amount & it was fun to have a chance to win. I like the camaraderie of connecting with others–although it’s tough to fit it in with the reading time. Also for me audio books are a big plus & I’ll do more of those next time.
4. What do you think could be done to improve the readathon for next time?
I can’t think of anything from the hosting side. For me a better stopwatch/tracker. My iphone stopwatch reset itself twice which was really frustrating. Alos more audio books so I can listen while checking in on other readers more on social media.

Yes! This was my third and I’ll definitely be back. Thank you and the other hosts for all of the hard work!

I’m not sure how many pages I read (I listened to portions of a couple of books, and I don’t know how that adds up), but I read for 12 hours! I finished three books (The Geek Feminist Revolution, X Saves the World, and The Bed Moved) and read/listened to portions of: You Are a Badass at Making Money, What the F?, and The Wasp Factory. It was a busy weekend for me, so I wasn’t as focused as I might have liked. I knew I wouldn’t be able to shoot for 24, but I was at least able to dedicate some extra time to reading!
For me, the only thing that’s hard is keeping up with all the social stuff. I just don’t even think to do it. This doesn’t, of course, mean that YOU should change anything, but I am so focused on reading (or sleeping) that I don’t participate in as much of the other fun stuff as I’d like. You (and your co-hosts this time!) always do such a great and thoughtful job with all the social media, so keep it up!
Can’t wait for January!!

1. I read one full book, and three partials (plus a bunch of toddler books to my nephew)
2. I miscalculated a little so I ended up doing 24 and 1/2 hours

1. I read 6 books (and started 1). I kept track of pages read this year, which is my first time doing so (1,265)
2. I read for 20 hours and 40 minutes
3. The challenges were fun and I liked the content of the check in posts
4. It didn’t affect me personally, but I noticed that there seemed to be a snafu with international prizes. Maybe there could be a way to ensure that only international participants can sign up for those prizes…?

1) I listened to about 8.75/23 hours in an audiobook and dabbled in two print books that I had in progress before the Readathon started, finishing none.
2) I read for about 10 hours, not quite reaching my personal goal of 12 hours reading
3) I think having folks to help you was a great change.
4) I think it would be great to change-up the challenges and come up with some new ones (perhaps having other folks host)
5) I will definitely participate again.

1. I finished 3 books and started 3 other books; I read 400 physical pages and listened to 7.5 hours of audiobooks.
2. I didn’t keep track of my hours! Definitely not 24.
3. What do you think worked well in this readathon? I loved all of the social media involvement and the challenges throughout the readathon. I also loved how often the blog was updated and how detailed and fun the posts were.
4. What do you think could be done to improve the readathon for next time? I felt bad for any international participants hoping to win prizes since it seemed like the international prizes went very quickly.

1. I read 3 books, plus 2 chapters of a 4th, and listened to 1/2 of an audiobook. I did not keep track of the number of pages read.

3. & 4. I don’t have any comments or suggestions. I just enjoyed having an excuse to sit & read.
5. I am hoping to do another 24in48 readathon at some point. It all depends on my schedule.

1. I read two novels and two graphic novels.
2. I went the whole 24 hours!!!
3. Everything worked well! You made the social media aspect easy, your blog was updated promptly, and you kept the challenges quick so as not to take away from reading time!
4. Maybe you could allow a little more time to complete the challenges? They were fun, but sometimes too much of a distraction from reading goals 🙂
5. Yes!! This was my first one and I loved it, and I can’t wait for the next one! I’m going to work on improving my game plan 😉

7 books this round (2 were in progress when I started ) for about 1900 pages. Made it the 24 hours, thanks to audio book options.
I will definitely participate again. I love the social media aspect — seeing whathe every one else is reading, etc.

What do you think worked well in this readathon? The things which didn’t work well for me were personal and not related to the readathon organization 🙂 I like having other social media friends to “read with” and how we encouraged each other. The online book community rocks!!!
What do you think could be done to improve the readathon for next time? I don’t know how many Canadians participated but possibly having “Canadian,” “American,” and “international” prizes… I realize it’s hard for the readathon to acquire prizes and it might not be worth it but it feels weird that a prize for me would have to ship from England 🙂 That said, I’m not doing the readathon for the prizes so maybe get rid of them all together so it’s just not an issue???

Just an idea … How easy is it to track where people are reading from? My local Canadian bookstore would possibly donate a gift card prize if it knew a certain number of Canadians were participating… And possibly other readers from countries with high participation could do the same???
This might be a way to secure a few more “outside the US” prizes.

We’re working on how to get international prize donations before the next round, but because we work directly with US publishers and they donate books as part of marketing/publicity costs, its much harder to get int’l outlets to donate things worth real money. But this is a great idea.

Indulging myself in #24in48
24in48 is a yearly read fest. I will be buried in one book or another most of the weekend.
I did not manage to read for 24 hours, but I did get to 18 hours and 19 minutes.
Started 9:35 p.m. Friday (California time.)
Finished THE BLACK LIZARD ANTHOLOGY OF CRIME FICTION Thinking my reading speed has sunk. And then realizing that these stories were curated by the editor to be those that went deeper than a standard formula pulp story. Yep, I was reflecting on the motivations, the tragedy of revenge, the warping of young minds . . .
Started THE BRAIN DEFENSE . . . Neuroscience in America’s Courtrooms. Could be a tie-in to the crime fiction, with characters getting their heads banged up in so many fights.
Needing fresh air and a break from The Brain Defense, went on a walk, bringing John Sandford’s GOLDEN PREY in my mp3 player.
Then back to The Brain Defense which I finished in the wee hours of Sunday morning
Looking for a book to start “tomorrow” with, opened up RECLAIMING SAN FRANCISCO: HISTORY, POLITICS, CULTURE, had to take a look inside it, and then of course ended up reading a piece from this anthology.
6:58 p.m. Sunday, again California time
Read through KILLER AND VICTIM
total time read: 18 hours and 19 minutes. Missing the 24 for the second year, but it was a fun weekend for me.
