July 2019 #24in48 Prize Pack Winners

Holy moly, readathoners! Can you believe another ‘thon has come and gone? We’re so amazed by the incredible turnout last weekend – nearly 2,500 of you signed up and showed up for the readathon, which is particularly astounding since the summer 24in48 is notoriously smaller than our winter event. But you guys blew past our previous July event records without even blinking.

And if that weren’t enough, 235 of you submitted proof of having read 24+ hours (and I do mean + – some readers clocked well over the 24-hour goal over the course of the weekend). Thank goodness we had more prize packs than ever to give away this time.

So without further ado, let’s give away some prize packs. (As a reminder, here’s what’s in each of these packs.)

Congrats to all our winners and to everyone that finished a full 24 hours of reading! And congrats to all of you that participated, whether you hit 24 hours or not. Winners, expect an email from us shortly.

If you won another prize during the readathon last week, we are in the process of working through all of your entries and will be processing those soon. Please be patient as it takes a little while to get all your mailing addresses sent over to our publishing partners and/or your prizes packaged up and sent out (depending on what you won).

Thank you again to everyone that joined us last weekend for another great #24in48. We had the best time and hope you did too.

Hour 48: It’s The End.

Amazing. You guys are absolutely amazing. We’ve hit the end of this round of #24in48 and are still counting up all the posts and comments and prize entries and emojis and gifs you all shared this weekend but suffice to say it was a successful weekend all around.

Whether you hit 24 hours or not, we all spent a little more time with our nose in a book and isn’t that the best way to spend a weekend?

We have some winners to announce from the Hour 42 Your Favorite One Challenge. If you see your name below, keep an eye out for an email from us to claim your prize! :

Lastly, if you managed to read a full 24 hours, you’re eligible to win a prize pack (announced here), courtesy of some of our fantastic donors. Fill out the form here or embedded below to provide proof of your full 24 hours read BEFORE midnight ET on Wednesday, July 24th. We’ll announce the winners of those packs next week. Once again, we are so thrilled you were able to join us this weekend and we hope you had an amazing couple of days full of great books, yummy snacks, and few interruptions. We’ll see you back here in January! Now we’re gonna go pass out for 12 hours.

Hour 45: Feeling All the Feels

teal background with 24in48 logo and a header that reads, "Hour 45: Check-In: Feeling All the Feels"

It’s Hour 45, which means it’s my last official check-in with you all for the weekend. And you know what that means: ALL THE FEELINGS.

A woman in front of a Christmas tree waves her hands with the caption "Feelings. So many feelings right now."

Seriously, though, this weekend is an incredible testament to the power of books and reading to bring people together in ways that are still mind-blowing to me, even after many, many years of doing this thing. I know I speak for my fellow co-hosts when I say we are so, so grateful for each and every one of you who participate, who share this event with friends and family, who cheer each other on over the course of the weekend. For reals. It’s amazing.

The cast of Saved by the Bell does a cheer with the caption "Friends Forever!"

Don’t worry, there will be more feels at Hour 48 as we wrap this wonderful weekend up, and there’s still three whole hours left to read read read read read!

Hour 42: Your Favorite One Challenge

hour 42

Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of happy readers, it is the music of a group who is sad the last challenge is here, but ready to rock this thing… (I don’t know, Les Mis just felt right, I’m running low on coffee).

We’ve got one last challenge for you, 24in48ers, and this one is brought to you by our partners at Flatiron Books and Algonquin.

Hour 39: Get Up and Go Go Go!

A teal background with the 24in48 logo and the title "Hour 39: Check-In: Get Up and Go Go Go."

Here’s the thing about reading: it’s (usually) a fairly sedentary activity. So if you’re finding yourself fading, might we suggest you get up and move around a bit? Do some stretches, take a walk (bring an audiobook along if you want to try to cram in more reading time while you’re out and about!), find a new spot to curl up with your book. It’s easy to get lost in the pages and forget about that crink in your neck until it’s too late to stop the crink from becoming a full-blow crank.

Ok, now that we’ve all stretched a bit, why don’t we reward ourselves with a few more door prize winners? This round of prizes is brought to you by Little Brown and Company, and our winners will win a copy of one of the following titles:

Hour 36 marks the start of the final quarter of 24in48, and we know that it’s crunch time for a lot of readers who are aiming to hit that 24-hour mark. Whether you’re closing in on that goal or only read for a few hours this weekend, you’re doing  amazing, and we’re SO thrilled that you’ve joined us and spent this weekend with a community of readers across the world.

Hour 33: Here We Go Again

A teal background with the 24in48 logo and the title "Hour 33: Check-In: Here We Go Again."

We’re back around to 9am for two out of three of your co-hosts, which means we’re staring down another whole day of nothing but ‘thon. These morning hours (EST) are some of my favorites of the entire 24in48 because all three of your co-hosts are awake and working together behind the scenes, and so many readers across the world are reading, reading, reading in their respective time zones. It’s just so FUN, y’all!

Phoebe from Friends enthusiastically exclaims, "SO MUCH FUN!"

Are you also having as much fun as we are? If not, what do you need to turn your weekend around? More prizes? Ok then! We can do that.

This round of prizes is brought to you by a whole mess of sponsors! Viking, Riverhead, Penguin, and Out of Print made it possible for our winners this hour to receive one of the following:

Hour 30: YA & Middle Grade Challenge

hour 30

It’s early morning on the East Coast, my dogs are snoring, and the coffee is brewing as I take in the magic of my favorite day of the ‘thon.

Whether it’s Winter 24in48 or Summer 24in48, day two always feels a bit cozier in that perfect reading way, where the world is quiet and soft around the edges and you sink into your books with the knowledge that somewhere out there, a whole bunch of other readers are doing the same.

Image from iOS.jpg
A pile of children’s and YA books

The flip side of day two, though, is always the sleepies, depending on how the first day went for you. To ward that off, we always recommend switching things up, taking a walk, hydrating, and—above all else—mixing in some quick, easy reads. One fantastic way to do that? Diving into those middle grade, young adult, and new adult books in your stack.

For this challenge—brought to you by Simon & Schuster’s Children’s division—we want to hear about your favorite MG/YA novels and series. Do you have old, battered copies of books from your childhood that got you into reading? Maybe you’re a parent teaching your kid(s) to read, or have recently done that reading rite-of-passage where you read them your favorites as a bedtime story. Post about it, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #24in48 so other readers can find you.

Hour 27: Do It. Fierce. Power.

A teal background with the 24in48 logo and the title "Hour 27: Check-In: Do It. Fierce. Power."

Ok, friends. We’ve made it up to and through the halfway point of this weekend. It’s currently 3am for co-hosts Kristen & Kerry, and 9am for Rachel. (K&K are probably asleep right now; Rachel is steering the ship while we get our beauty rest.)

This is about the time that people tend to really need some motivation to keep going, power through, and read on, so here’s a reminder that even if you aren’t going to make a full 24 hours of reading (I know I won’t!), you’ve still got most of an entire day ahead of you to make books and reading and this community (and naps and snacks and whatever else makes you the happiest) your priority.

And in case that wasn’t enough motivation for you, how about some more door prize winners? This round of door prizes is brought to you by Penguin Random House Audio. Winners will randomly receive one of these audio titles:

For our international winners, you’ll be able to pick between a $15 gift card to your choice of Amazon, Book Depository, or Wordery.

Hour 24: Halfway There

(Don’t make a Bon Jovi joke, don’t make a Bon Jovi joke…)

OMG you guys are kicking ass! Taking names! Chewing gum! Turning pages! By the official time clock, we have just hit the halfway mark in this readathon and I’m just so impressed with the amount of hours and books and comics and audiobooks you’re all tearing through. Even if you have no hope of hitting 24 hours, you’re doing an incredible job setting aside quality reading time. And really that’s all that matters.

WHILE YOU’RE HERE, let me remind you: WE’RE GOING LIVE ON INSTAGRAM AGAIN at Hour 29; this time we’re focusing on our International readers! Join Rachel at 5am EST, 11am CEST for book talk, golden retrievers, the Italian countryside, and more of us not knowing what we’re doing.

The best way to mark this midway milestone and the end of Day 1 of 24in48 is obviously with some prizes. Hour 18 winners, your time is now.

Because we are…

after all…

halfway there…
